Planetary atmospheres: from terrestrial planets to exoplanets

March 25-27, 2019, Apatity

March 25-27, 2019 at the Polar Geophysical Institute in Apatity hosted a scientific conference and a school of young scientists "Atmospheres of planets: from the terrestrial group to exoplanets." The conference was organized with the participation of the Laboratory "Atmospheres of the terrestrial planets and exoplanets" of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Laboratory of Applied Infrared Spectroscopy at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

The conference was devoted to the study of the atmospheres of the terrestrial planets: Earth, Venus and Mars, including modern physical processes from the troposphere to the exosphere, polar processes in atmospheres, and related processes in the atmosphere of Saturn's satellite Titan.

The program included experimental methods of remote sensing of atmospheric physical processes, recent observational data for Solar System planets, numerical modeling of atmospheric dynamics, and modern achievements in exoplanet research, including prospects for detecting Earth-like planets outside the Solar System.

Program Topics

  1. Atmospheres of the terrestrial planets: Earth, Venus, Mars.
  2. Polar processes in the atmosphere.
  3. Exospheres of the planets.
  4. Exoplanets.

Participation

The working language of the conference was Russian. Foreign participants could submit their reports in English. The school-conference included several lecture reports; working papers could be presented either orally or as poster presentations.

No registration fee was expected. Information about participation and report titles was requested by email before March 4.
